Gene,

I do not have a Pegusus, but can't resist adding my .02!

I am on my second Ten Tec (a Paragon, following a Corsair) and am
generally happy with their products and am sure the Pegusus is the value
everyone else says.

I have only one thought on the topic, and it concerns your "newbie"
status. Why not go the extra few bucks for a Jupiter? You will then
have the opportunity to operate either using the computer interface or
the front panel (traditional radio) interface. I would think as someone
new to the hobby, you would be shortchanging yourself if you can't try
radio operation from the radio. It will allow flexability (take the
radio on vacation, without your computer gear) also make it easier to
work with other folks' stations (visits, Field Day, etc.). I make the
difference between a Pegusus + knob and a Jupiter at $150.

I personally prefer using old fashioned controls, but then I grew up
when that was the only choice!

73 and GL with whatever you do.
