[TenTec] Clearspeech and Jupiter?

For several years now, Ten-Tec Pegasus and Jupiter transceivers used an
audio output IC with transformerless bridge output. This has made it
inconvenient for hams who want to hang accessory equipment (Clearspeech
is an example of one) on the AF output. IF either terminal of the
speaker output gets grounded, it destroys the AF IC. The readily
available Radio Shack 8-ohm to 1000-ohm transformer provides an output
apparently well suited to the Clearspeech accessory. Two such
transformers connected as follows:
[TT radio to 8-ohms; xfmr to 1K to 1K xfmr to 8-ohms out] provide a low
impedance "groundable one side" output to extension speakers etc where
one side is grounded. Do not try this unless you understand what I have
abreviated here!!
Do not ask me about the Clearspeech accessory - I have only seen it
advertised. Hope this helps.

Ten-Tec radios other than Pegasus and Jupiter have speaker output with
one side already grounded.
