[TenTec] Opinions of Scout NB?

I am a proud and happy Scout owner, and after several years, on the news that
the Scout has been discontinued, I am considering purchasing the noise-blanker
module before the supply dries up. I would like to hear from others who have
used the Scout and the NB. Is it effective? Against what type(s) of noise?
Specifically, do you find it works well, or at all, against line noise or
SCR/dimmer/motor brush type noise from household sources? Does it distort
signal audio or clip? Does it affect frequency lock while operating CW, or the
performance of QSK? Any other problems?
I hadn't planned to buy the blanker, but first I started having this noise
problem at the new QTH (local hash, all bands [worst: 80 & 40] nights only, on
2' 15", off 1' 25", in thru ant., from dusk till ???), and then I discovered in
February that the Scout had been discontinued and modules and NB are only
guaranteed to be available through the end of this year! I am working on
finding the noise source, but since I do plan to buy some other Scout items
(modules) while they are still available, I thought I might as well get the
blanker, if it can be counted on to do much good.
So, Scout owners, what think you about the plug-in noise blanker? Does it work?
I know it would be merely a guesstimate, but if you can, please quantify any
noise abatement in terms of dB. TIA!
