[TenTec] Shipping Items to Ten-Tec

One fact is maybe not known. There IS an agreement between the USPS and
Fed-Ex. But the bottom line is, they keep their planes FULL. And that
includes big boxes containing ham rigs. It puts them effectively in
competition with UPS. All of this is good, IMO. My bottom line is, let us
not be too quick to look for rebates or anything but the usual quality
service. The service will be fine if you use the approved shipping boxes so
the equipment is protected from the slamming around it gets. Ship UPS, get
it back by Fed-Ex (a MAIL truck may bring you that rig on a Saturday), and
be happy. :-). Times are tough. I think we should consider ourselves lucky
to have Ten-Tec at all, even if right now I cannot justify buying a rig, and
I have owned many of theirs in the past. Ten-Tec, and the unusual US company
that makes those QRP kits (Elecraft), stand behind what they build, darned
near forever. In this economy, and with the trends in ham radio, ham gear
being a speck on the sands of electronic products, we should be grateful,
and should trust the business wisdom of these companies. If anyone would
like to quietly arrange to buy my non-US HF gear, quietly let me know, but
like me, you ought to be ashamed for owning it. Just my opinion. One thing,
Ten-Tec. PLEASE figure out how to build some kind of blower onto the back of
your rigs, aimed at the heat sink fins. My ham shack is not designed for
external fan use, and say what you want, I don't like how hot those fins
get, I don't care HOW overdesigned the finals are. I just gave myself an
idea for how to do this with a whole different fan design, i.e. Not a muffin
fan... not exactly rocket science, just a matter of finding the fan, and if
any clues are needed, these blowers faintly resemble a small hair dryer... I
saw one the other day. I could bracket mount one on ANY rig. End of
Soap-Boxing. And I will not apologize for the "bandwidth".

hope that TenTec passes along to us, whom are charged hipping, the actual
cost of the 'shipping'. INCLUDING DISCOUNTS/REBATES.

MANY COMPANIES MAKE HUGE PROFITS ON THE DISCOUNTS/REBATES PAID BACK TO THEM
FROM THE SHIPPERS FOR "VOLUME"...
