1. Nature of Activity:	 Communications Emergency

2. Activity Description:	 The City of Azle was not in
the disaster 
effected zone, but provided some shelters in churches
as did several 
communities in Tarrant County.  Amateur Radio
Operators provided local level 
communications for the evacuee shelters in the City of
Azle for 
hurricane RITA evacuees.  County central clearing
house for evacuees had 
communication lines overrun, so this helped
communications between shelters 
and the central clearing house.  This was done as part
of a Tarrant 
County ARES activation, and this report is for the
City of Azle Local ARES 
provided by Tri-County Amateur Radio Club WC5C.  We
were called up by 
both the City of Azle Fire Chief and the Tarrant
County RACES/ARES.  we 
operated a few hours in the evening and select times
during the day.  
All though the shelters remained open a few days
longer than our 
operation, the communications emergency phase of the
operation concluded after 
2 days.
