Hi Bob:

I listed myself as a mentor for the EmComm courses, but I've not taken the
Antenna Modelling course, but I am kind of familiar with it. I do not
think it would be of much practical use to you as it is really about using
software to model different antenna designs and doesn't really cover the
basics of antenna theory. A better resource, in my opinion, would be the
W4RNL website that has lots of practical information as well as a
considerable amount of antenna theory and notes on antenna modelling as
well, if that is of interest to you. Here's the
link: http://www.cebik.com/radio.html

There is also little better reference than the ARRL Antenna Book. I have
had my copy for over 20 years and it is well thumbed and referred to often. :)

I think the best way to become active in radio is to get involved with a
local group. I am involved with the Tri-County Amateur Radio Club, which
is a very active group. We usually meet on the first Saturday of the month
at Catfish O'Harley's Restaurant in Azle. Our website is at
http://wc5c.org . We will not be having a meeting this weekend, though,
because we have our annual Christmas party next weekend. If you are
interested in meeting the folks in the club, let me know and I'll send you
the directions/particulars on the party. We'd love to have you come out
and meet everyone.

We have a net on thursdays at 8pm on 147.16+600 pl 110.9. Drop in and say
hi there as well.

Hope all that is some help.

73!
