The September meeting of the Tri-County Amateur Radio Club was held at
Checkers Pizza in Springtown on Saturday September 6, 2003.  President
Fred Muehlen called the meeting to order at 1910 hours. =20

Minutes from the August meeting were read by Secretary Christy Brewer.
Thomas made a motion to accept the minutes as read, Joel seconded the
motion and the motion passed.

=20

Paul read the Treasurer=92s report in C. J.=92s absence.  The balance =
was
$2,405.04.  Joel moved to accept the treasury report as read, Terry
seconded and the motion passed. =20

=20

President=92s report:  There was no presentation.  There will be an =
NCTECH
Meeting after the regular club meeting.

Fred made the following announcements:

*        Hardin=92s side walk sale is Saturday the 13th.

*        NCTECH is November 8, 2003.

*        Belton is October 4, 2003.

*        Fred mentioned the Texas Repeater Net and members discussed the
local IRLP.     =20

*        On September 11, 2003 there will be a commemorative Net which
will link repeater and echo-link around the world.  It will begin at
0600 hours EDT, and there will be a Directive Net at 1900 hours EDT.

*        There is another grant for Emergency Communication Courses to
cover 2nd year.  There were approximately 1,700 people that participated
in the 1st year Basic course and they are hoping to have the same number
participate this year.  The registration begins at 0001 hours on
09/08/2003.  The cost is $45.00, but it will be reimbursed after you
pass the course.

*        There are petitions to the FCC about eliminating the Code
Requirement for licensing.

*        The Balloon Launch was discussed, Daryl listened to it on the
radio, and Chris watched it on APRS.

*        APRS workshop was on 09/06/2003 at UT Dallas.  Terry, David,
Thomas, Chris and Christy attended.  Chris will give an APRS
presentation at the October meeting.

*        The Azle Jamboree is Saturday, 09/13/2003.  We have a spot next
to the boy scouts, which is next to National Samples where the car show
is.  WE NEED ALL THE HELP WE CAN GET.  Fred, Chris, Terry, Paul and
David will get together this week to discuss the set up.  We will use a
canopy and table so that we are more accessible to those attending the
festival.  We discussed which antennas and radios to use. =20

*        Anyone interested in a Cap and/or Shirt contact David.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

*        Field Day Committee:  Need to start planning for next year.
Fred volunteered to be Chairman.

*        NCTECH Committee:  NEED EVERYONE=92S HELP.  Daryl made cards to
pass out and David gave =93flyers=94 to everyone to pass out.  The next
meeting was set for Saturday 9/13/2003, 1800 hours at the NCTECH site.
David spoke on approached to notify local clubs and give them details
from the =93flyers=94, as well as announcing NCTECH on local nets.  He
discussed putting out the =93flyers=94 at the sidewalk sale, Ham Events =
and
Ham Fests.  David stated the event will be a success if we get a big
turnout.  We need to invite presenters for classes and get them
scheduled so that information can be included on future =93flyers=94, to
gain people=92s interest.  Daryl has volunteered to contact local clubs.
Thomas will contact Vendors.  Fred will announce it on 3494 Swap Net.
David will contact the City of Azle Fire Department and Police
Department, the Azle News and 89.1 FM.  Daryl will contact the Saginaw
Paper.  Terry will contact the Wise County Messenger.  Joel will contact
Brad Barton.  Paul will bring the video of =93BPL=94

*        Azle Jamboree:  Radio operators will use noise canceling
headphones along with an external speaker to that the radio operator is
not distracted by the other people listening.  Daryl will set up a
special events station.

NEW BUSINESS

*        Fred discussed having a =93call up=94 list for volunteers to
contact inactive members to let them know of upcoming meetings and
events.  Thomas volunteered.

*        Upcoming classes will be listed on the reflector.

*        Next meeting is October 4, 2003, 1900 hours at Checker=92s =
Pizza
on the square in Springtown.

*        Drawing was held for a door prize.  Chris won.

There was no more new business, Joel moved we adjourn, Thomas seconded.
The meeting was adjourned at 2015 hours.
