NCTECH was a great success. Thanks to all who had a part in pulling it
off. We had a great turn-out; the parking lot was full! The vendors
were pleased - they liked the new digs and Jubilee said their sales
exceeded their expectations by 400%. They will be back! It was a great
opportunity for the local hams to get out of the weather, chew the fat
over a cup of coffee and a donut and pick up some new additions for the
shack. The presentations were very informative, although a little tough
to hear at times (we'll definitely have to look into getting the key for
the PA next year), and some good info was exchanged at the NTX Section
Forum. WC5C even got exercised a bit (thanks to Mark, K5PSB, for use of
his station), although band conditions were less than optimal.
Door prizes were offered by TCARC, ARRL, AMSAT and Just Call David. The
grand prize was an Icom 2100 2m mobile rig purchased from Jubilee
Enterprises at the hamfest.
W5YI VEs did testing in the Emanuel building. I don't know how many
tested, but Jim, KD5VXH, passed his written for General. Congrats, Jim.
Now if he can just get the code out of the way...
All in all, a good event in spite of the nasty weather. Next year
should be even better. Thanks to all the help in making NCTECH a
success.
