Howdy All!
If you are receiving this email, you have expressed an interest in
attending the 03 NTX APRS Workshop. Please do not respond
directly to this email, which comes from a send only email list. If
you want to reply, or have been included on this list by mistake,
please reply directly to [email protected].
EVENT PREPARATIONS
Preparations for the workshop continue. A new, more radio friendly
web domain has been created. All of the event web pages have
been moved to the new domain. To see the new web site, go to
www.n5oom.org.
The event is firmly scheduled for Saturday, September 6, from 9am
to 6pm. The duration of the event will be dependent on the number
of presentations we are able to complete. Please be sure to check
the web site for changes. Justin McAllister K5AEA, President of the
Comet Amateur Radio Club has been working to secure conference
rooms on the UTD campus. We have these rooms reserved, but
I'm holding on to the precise location until we have resolved all the
details.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
Many more volunteers are needed to fill out our schedule. If you
are interested, please contact me at [email protected]. We need
individuals to work the event steering committee, to do
presentations, and to work the open workshop. A Yahoo group has
been set up to provide a communications forum for the committee
members. Any interested person may join the group, which is
located at:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ntx_aprs_sw/
Steering committee members will help with the running of the
event:
- The presentation coordinator will be active at the event helping to
ensure that all the presentations go off on time.
- The workshop coordinator will track the open workshop volunteers
and will determine what help is needed for anybody needing
assistance at the workshop.
- The publications coordinator will be active before the event,
converting copies of the presentations to PDF format and burning
them on to CD. Preferably, the publications coordinator should find
a sponsor to pay for printing copies of the presentations.
Technical committee members will be active before the event. The
members will help in the construction of the presentations by
providing information and ideas.
Workshop committee members will be active during the event,
providing assistance to persons needing help getting their APRS
stations up and running. All different skills are needed for the
workshop, so don't worry if you don't think you have a specific skill.

Also, Byon Garrabrant, the developer of the TinyTracker has
offered us a deal for reduced price tracker kits with guaranteed
buyback. If there is a group that would be interested in sponsoring
TinyTrackers at the event,
