Dan,
We are all in this hobby to learn, when you quit learning you are, well
dead. It takes a while to get used to the nets and it can be
nerve-racking at times, especially when there are several noisy signals
you have to contend with. Don't get worried or upset, it takes a while
for us all to learn the business.
Thank,
Paul

Sorry about last night, I wasn't too prepared and it showed, plus I am
new to the ham business. I hope that I can learn how to do it better
before I take it on again. I didn't even get a copy of the call signs
given, I can't write as fast a some talk. Maybe I can be better some
day. Sorry if it wasn't a good net.

The experience of a couple of recent nets prompts me to offer some
possible guidance for net controls in running the Thursday night nets.
First, let us remember that the net is officially called "The Tri-County
Amateur Radio Club Weekly Ragchew and Information Net." In order for it
to be a ragchew and information net, it is important to let those who
check in ragchew and offer information. Otherwise, it becomes a simple
check in net, which is pointless as we are already aware that we have
propagation. When acting as net control, please ask each station for a
comment. Perhaps they have something they want to offer for swap or
sale. Maybe they are looking for something or have a technical
question. You'll never know if you don't ask. We don't have to pay any
extra if the net runs past 10 minutes. Also, unless you are planning to
offer some training, please refrain from calling it a training net.
Those who wish to listen to training nets with no training are welcome
to listen to the 94 repeater on monday nights. No need for us to
duplicate that function.
David, perhaps you could post that Net Control check in sheet that you
gave me several years ago. It has the preamble and closing and all of
that stuff. Very helpful in running the net. I have several of the
printed sheets, but I don't have it in digital.
This is not intended as a flame, just trying to be helpful. Ain't
nobody born knowing how to do this stuff.
