I met with Donna today, and we went over the layout for the events and the
marathon.
The dressage event is first at 0800, and we will need 3 hams to handle that.
One can be at the event field, one with Donna and one at headquarters. The
more the merrier if you plan to show up for the full day, so we can provide
relief for our operators.
Lunch will be served to those who are there for the full day.
At 1250 the marathon event begins and this is where we will need all of our
manpower. The course is almost 5 miles long and covers most of the ranch
acreage.
I have received confirmation from the following club members:
KB5YLG
KB5YLF
KD5UEP
KZ5RR
KD5DEW
KD5NNS
KD5FCQ

We are counting on all above to be there for the marathon race. Please let me
know if you can not make it.
Any other volunteers who would like to come out are still needed! Please
contact me ASAP so I can work on the location assignments.
Equipment required is at minimum an HT with a full charge and spare battery if
you have one, a better than rubber-ducky antenna too if you've got it. There
are several spots on the marathon that will be accessible by 4WD or similar
vehicle where a mobile rig will be desirable for coverage. Be sure to bring a
lawn chair and water too!
Paul and David, we could sure use the club trailer with 2m antenna at the
headquarters to be sure we have coverage to all. Let me know if you can help
get it out there.
After the marathon race, we will be done.
All assignments will be "remote" either with HT or mobile, and if we have the
people available we can have a couple on foot with a couple of the officials.
I will have maps and assignment locations, and can operate at the trailer for
coordination of relief and net control.
Weather looks to be "Mostly clear. Lows in the mid 30s and highs in the lower
50s." according to NWS, and no precip forecast after the Wednesday prior.
It would be nice if all volunteers wear their club shirts and if needed
jackets, for easy identification. Your personal callsign name tag would be
good too if you have one.
This looks to be a good year and good weather, let's have some fun and enjoy
the horses... and follow it up with a good club meeting!
