Hello,
Fer what it's worth, I think we should have something, maybe not a full
blown Ham Fest but maybe a big picnic or something like that and maybe a Fox
Hunt. Have a tailgate sale, no commercial vendors. Have it at the park and
invite the whole area Hams and all! I would donate some on meat and other
things (if I can afford it) for a cookout or something like that. Have a
good time!
I have to admit, I am on the committee but have been more interested in
keeping food on the table for my Son (and me also!). I have had a time
trying to make ends meet because the company I have been contracting for has
not paid a dime in over 7 months. I am trying to find a lawyer now.

Subject: [TCARC-NTx] cancel NCTECH?
We ought to consider cancelling NCTECH.
Let's talk about it at the club meeting this Saturday.
1. No one volunteered to work, everyone is too busy.
2. Economy is bad, no one has money to spend.
3. We have only one vendor signed up.
4. We have done very little publicity, and that should
start a year out, a month isn't enough.
5. Two other ham radio events are happening the same
day: Hardin's sidewalk sale which is free, and the
AmSat conference.
6. We can only get the small building at the hamfest
site, the larger building is booked up.
7. The NCTECH 2002 committee has never met.
In my opinion, we should cancel for this year, and
decide if we want to do the hamfest next year. If we
do, we should start working on it now.
If we do decide to do the hamfest this year, it will
be very small, most likely a money loser. I'm not
totally against it, but I think we are going to
disappoint ourselves and our vendors.
