[TCARC-NTx] cancel NCTECH?

You have valid points, David. Shura and I won't be here for the meeting
Saturday, here are my thoughts.

#1 While we never spoke up that we would work the hamfest, that is my fault
and we would of course be there. I "assumed" that everyone would know that.
Not very specific or comforting to the team, eh? If everybody does the same,
it sounds like nobody will be working it, perhaps there are others who would
be there to help.

#2 is bogus, the hamfest is cheap even if you are looking for some used
equipment.

#3 is a good point, it would be bad to have some vendors show up to a real dud
event. Better to warn them off early and get them good business next time.

#4 is something we always mess up. If we intend to continue, we need to look
at this real hard. We passed out flyers at the 'fest last year, which are now
outdated as we moved location. Need to be real up on this, I think it is the
major part of the hamfest.

#5 At least for the Amsat meeting, the cost is $30 and while I plan to go at
least Friday, I'm not sure a bunch of hams would be attending that who aren't
hard-core satellite users.

#6 Another good reason we need to start early and work hard as on the
publicity. Also related to #3, I would hate to disappoint people by not
having enough room and being unable to support the traffic that the vendors
(if there were more) deserve.

#7 What can you say? There are only a handful of people on the committee who
regularly show up at the hamfest, and of those only a few who ever get things
in motion for the club. We are usually under-participated in anything that
the club does except meetings, the enthusiasm is always there at the meeting
but few take it beyond that. Hey, I know for a fact that work and family come
first and will take precedence (which is why I have been very quiet this year,
activity-wise) but out of 30 people at a meeting there should be some more
ability to spread around the activity?

Might be a good idea to cancel and regroup.

Or maybe I just had a bad day at work... :-)
