[TCARC-NTx] Chinese gift exchange explanation

This is pretty fun and funny:

Participation in the Chinese Gift Exchange at the
party is optional, bring a gift to get a gift.
Couples and families can play with 1 gift, or one for
each person, but you get as many as you bring.

Gifts should be in the $5 to $10 retail range, be
wrapped, and should be something somebody would want.
(Don't confuse this with the "White Elephant" gift
exchange, getting rid of something you don't want).

In the Chinese Gift Exchange, all the gifts are placed
on the table, or under the tree or whatever. Each
participant draws a number. The number of gifts and
number of numbers drawn should be the same.

In the order of the drawn numbers, each takes a
"turn."

This is a choose or grab game. Each person gets to
choose or grab.

In your turn, you may take a gift of your choice from
under the tree, or you you may "grab" (gently, please)
a gift that has already been unwrapped by one of the
other participants. If you take from another
participant then that person must choose or grab
another gift, too. Only two "grabs" per turn, so in
one turn if you grab, and that person also grabs, the
third person MUST choose from under the tree...no
third grabs in one turn. Once a present has been
selected from under the tree, that turn is over. Next
number now takes a turn.

Special rules for grabbing: can't grab a gift that
was grabbed from you in the same turn, but you can
grab it back in a subsequent turn if your subsequent
choice also gets grabbed; only two grabs per turn
maximum.

When the last selection is made from under the tree,
if player #1 still has the very first gift they picked
from under the tree, player #1 may swap his gift with
any other unwrapped gift. The game is over when all
the gifts have been selected from under the tree, and
player #1 has opted to keep or swap the first gift
from under the tree.

No fighting or sulking over not getting the gift you
wanted.

There is no rule against choosing the same gift you
brought.

Gift suggestions:

- Something decorative or classy
- A board game
- A gift certificate
- a hand craft
- something classy you got last Christmas and still
don't want
- gender inspecific as you don't know who might get it
and little pink bows don't go well with Roy's
mustache.
On the other hand, a woman with a hammer can be quite
stunning (think about it).

Have fun, see you there!
