For any of you who read the article in the Booster concerning work to be
done on the radio tower, I just talked with Dale who just talked with the
County Judge and was told that the problem was just the SO couldn't
communicate to all parts of the county.  The manufacturers representative
was out to the site and checked everything and decided that the radio
aspect for the SO checked out but it was a problem in retransmission.
Further checking will be done,  Our equipment is not at fault nor is it
affected.

p.s  I suppose that you all got a letter from Lonnie.  We will need to
place that matter on the agenda for the next meeting.  Also, the word is
getting around about TCARA.  We were mentioned in the Beaumont Amateur
Radio Newsletter (BARN).  I also hear that our membership is growing.  Nick
told me that he picked up two amateurs from outside Tyler County that payed
dues.  Thanks Nick!  That is a wonderful way to expand your circle of
friends, find out when and where the other organizations meet and visit.
They will be glad to have you there.  Since we are a critical gap in
communications between the Beaumont area (The Golden Triangle) and Lufkin,
and Livingston and Jasper, there is a lot of interest in us and our
success.  I"ve talked to the ARES/ RACES area coordinator and he would like
to attend one of our meetings and discuss ARES & RACES.  He will also try
to assist in the presentation to the Commissioners Court.
