[TCARA] House Bill HB 912 Update

There is a bill in Austin HB 912 that is designed to prevent taking
photos from an aerial platform such as a plane, balloon, rocket
or "drone" which is what I am sure the bill was introduced to prevent.

However, this could greatly impact hams, college groups and other
individuals that are active in launching balloons like the Beaumont Amateur
Radio Club.

This is a State bill. If you desire, you may contact your state rep and/or
state senator and let them know that the language needs to be
corrected to allow for groups who have no interest in spying on their
neighbors. It is not necessary to contact any of our West Division
or South Texas ARRL staff as its well known and our legislative teams
are working on it. Who knows, taking photo's from towers may be added to
list one day.
