Tonight, we will demonstrate receiver sensitivity testing using the signal to noise and distortion on the service monitor, and we will be working on the HF antenna setup for worldwide communications. Hope to see you there! The second Vice President of the American Radio Relay League (Brian N5ZGT) is coming along with a few other Rocky Mountain Ham Radio members. (RMHAM.org, they do cool stuff) The repeater handoff will be done, and we will start to get to work on finalization for the install next week. The project is coming together, and will hopefully be on the air in a few weeks from today. Once the repeater is up, it will be the only operational UHF (440MHz / 70cm) machine workable from Socorro. When this repeater is operational, ALL you need to talk on it is a cheap Baofeng radio from Amazon ($25) and an amateur radio license. We had 2 radio donations for anyone who needs it, so the next two students to receive their license will receive one of these radios for free if you show interest in using the repeater. With AllStar link, we will be able to link to other mountaintops, universities, and other repeaters around the world. Hope to see you here tonight! Same location as usual: ?The Student Activity Center / Campus Police ?2nd floor, South Wing, room 212 ?Meeting at 7:00PM tonight (Friday February 10th) Skyler From skyler.fennell at student.nmt.edu Fri Feb 17 13:29:42 2017 From: skyler.fennell at student.nmt.edu (Skyler NMT) Date: Fri, 17 Feb 2017 18:29:42 +0000 Subject: [TARA] 440Mhz repeater ONLINE Message-ID: Hey everyone, I'm happy to announce that the install went well yesterday. The repeater is online @ 50 ft elevation above ground and from the limited testing so far, provides excellent handheld radio coverage throughout Socorro. The internet linking is active as well, and I had it linked to a repeater system in california earlier with good audio reports. AllStar is working, and I will work on EchoLink eventually so you can come in through a phone. We will have a meeting showing off the system and testing it tonight. Bring your handheld radio if you have one. If you have a baofeng radio or similar, I will have a programming cable and can put the repeater into the memory channels. Thanks, Skyler From skyler.fennell at student.nmt.edu Sun Feb 19 11:41:53 2017 From: skyler.fennell at student.nmt.edu (Skyler NMT) Date: Sun, 19 Feb 2017 09:41:53 -0700 Subject: [TARA] Workman Repeater Coverage and Frequency Message-ID: To talk on the new repeater on Workman, you will need to enter 3 things into the radio. Frequency Offset CTCSS Tone The frequency is 442.125MHz, the offset is +5.000 MHz (In a baofeng, you will set this on Menu 25 and menu 26) The CTCSS transmit tone is 100.0Hz (Menu 13 on a Baofeng). When you key to talk on the repeater, you should hear a beep back from it. The following link is a coverage map. Please note the calculations are done for a mobile 5dbi antenna, so a small handheld radio will not have as good coverage as the map shows. http://kd0whb.duckdns.org/coverage/NMT/ The green is strong signal, Yellow weak, and everywhere else, no signal. If you want to try different linking commands (Executed by DTMF), follow this link. kd0whb.duckdns.org/rpt.conf Skyler
