[Tandy] HTX-420 (2M + 440 HT) ??

Hi Folks,

Has anyone had a chance to see or actually use the newer HTX-420 ( 2M + 440)
HT ??

If you have, what do you think ?

Specs sound fair, and price appears OK, but RS has been all over the map on
quality.  Some RS HTs (the older ones) were terrific, some not so.  There
are some specs in the catalog that seem at odds with the on-line user
manual. While the manual is available on RS's site, and the radio is in the
current catalog, the radio itself is nowhere to be found on the web site.
The folks in the store 'graciously' offered to order one for me to look at
IF I paid the $29 shipping (obscene shipping costs -- the radio weighs less
than a pound) -- NO THANKS..

This radio has been in the catalog for quite a while, but none of the local
stores here in New England seem to stock it.  The shipping is prohibitive
just to take a look.   I have not found any on-line reviews either.  A
'google' search brings up only a few references - none of which include any
sort of product review.

You would think that RS is trying hard NOT to sell this radio....
