I'm not sure why we would spend all the time and effort of going somewhere
and not take the BC special. I would rather leave an amplifier at home and
take a good antenna than vice versa....

I was trying to eliminate the bulky base loading coil.....
Ted indicated a movement in thought towards not taking the BC
Special....

I thought we were taking the BC special for 80 and 160......
An HF2V is already an 80 meter vertical, no wire needed. :-)

Many questions and thoughts about our trip:
I have my air reservations as follows:
1. Detroit to Halifax
2. Halifax to St Pierre Mon Nov 21
3. St Pierre to Miquelon Mon Nov 21 4 PM (I just made this reservation
today).
Do we have hotel reservations in Halifax?
I volunteer to make up an emergency contact list for everyone. For my
part I will put on who to contact and a list of my medications and
doctors. I feel OK with everyone having that info; please Email me all
your pertinent info.
80 and 160...leaning towards dipoles? An HF2V with 33' of horizontal
wire at the top would make a vertically polarized 80 meter antenna.
Food for thought.
I will be on vacation this Fri Oct 14 thru Saturday Oct 22. Please
leave a message on my home phone 989 7903059 if anyone is getting
together on Sunday the 23rd. Home Email BTW is surmamjg at aol.com; I
check it very spottily.
Tools: We should probably come up with a small list. 4 wrenches plus
an adjustable; pliers; cutters; solder; tape; etc.
Operating plan: I guess we can discuss this over beaujolais nouveau and
bread on the island.
Any other ops interested?
BTW: Next week for 2 days I will be up near Au Train at the Pinewoods
B&B right off of M28 on Lake Superior. The owner is Jerry W8SAX, who is
missing 4 countries for "worked-em-all' award. This is a great place to
stay if you are ever up that way.
