[Swan] off frequency 508 vfo

Just got the 508 up and running,only problem seems to be the 508,  is off frequency by apx 44kc. The 500 CX is right on the money ,as far as the dial goes.  this 44kc, high frequency appears to be the same on all bands on the 508. All I have is the schematic on the 508 and the write up advertising sheet.I realize that I can adjust the trimmer for each range to bring the dial to 100%  in calibration,just seems strange each band is off just about the same 44kc?  I gather there was never a service manual for the 508? 
    I think I will go the route of adjusting each band trimmer ,unless someone see's something Iam missing
