Thanks for the reply Greg,
This thing doesn't appear to be silver plated. It looks just like a
1/2w carbon resistor but about half the length. It has
orange-orange-yellow-silver bands and I thought it WAS a resistor until
I tracked it down on the schematic. My 1976 Handbook refers to a
'tubular carbon capacitor' but I've never seen anything like it. It
sits right in the hole between the two stages. I can get a photo if
that would help.
