Altho I have the 14c inverter for the 117xc, I've not used it yet, but I am
familiar with inverters per se, as I have several military-surplus rigs that
use similar p/s, as well as the Swan 270 (no suffix).
Two condx you've not stated: 1.) what is the actual batt. volts? If too low
(<12v), yes, it will strain the inverter and make it run warmer than normal.
2.) what's your duty cycle, i.e., how much talking is involved in 20 min.?
Incidentally, it's likely the amp draw of the 270B (mine is built in, tho
yours should be similar) is only about 2a diff. from rx to tx.
Yes, it's likely any and all capacitors are dried out and ineffective, if
not even partially shorted - this includes the small-value "hysteresis"
capacitor(s) as well. They should all be routinely replaced: I do so even
before an initial test in many cases.
