[Swan] 350C mod

Hello to the list,
I have an early 350C with the punch-out for the OA2 tube. In the Swan
Compendium I
see that this socket can be wired for a 6X4 rectifier tube to supply
the screen voltage to V9 and prevent meter slam. Could someone explain
how this tube should be wired?
I have the pin diagram and my 'logic' has it wired like a simple
diode......no go. I obviously don't know what a rectifier needs to work
properly in this application.
