The "SWAN Tube Transceiver Compendium, Rev 4.0" has been complete and is
available on a CDROM Adobe PDF file format - Adobe Reader 5.0 or later is
required, which can be downloaded from the Adobe Website. This is the final
revision - no further time will be spend on it. The CDROM/file contents
have been tested and found to be readable on a newer Apple G5 and on both 5
and 10 year old Pentium PCs. Its use on an older PC (e.g. 10 yrs) is
problematic - it is painfully slow.

The Compendium contents has been slightly re-arranged in some sections and
based on character count, there is an 22-23% increase in core content over
Rev 3.0 (there actually was a Rev 3.1, but it was never released because of
computer/software problems).

Since a major component of amateur radio is public service and since
development of the Compendium represents a substantial amount of my time, I
though it would be fitting if it were distributed for a donation to charity.
The Adobe Software costs were covered by residual contingency funds from the
Rev 3.0 distribution, so the only cost involved is CDROM
media/packaging/mailing (and even some of that is already covered by "free"
rebate offers from OfficeMax, etc.).

Therefore, the Compendium is only being distributed for a $25 donation to
the St. Vincent de Paul Society, OLVC of State College, PA. The SVdP
Society is a world-wide organization of lay persons that provides assistance
on a local, national, and international level to needy families and
individuals, regardless of race, religion or ethnicity. Since the local
SVdP Conference is an all volunteer organization, essentially all donations
are used for the intended charitable purposes, unlike many charitable
organizations where 30% or even 50% or more of donations is often consumed
in operation (fundraising, salaries, etc.). (Note: I am not directly
involved with the SVdP, other than periodically listing items for them on
eBay.)

So, if you would like to both assist a charity and receive a PDF file of the
Compendium on a labeled CDROM jewel case packaged in a bubble wrap mailing
envelope, please do the following. Received requests will be sent out once
a week via 1st class US mail.

USA REQUESTS.

1. Send a personal check for $25 (or more) made out to: St. Vincent de
Paul Society, OLVC.

2. Include a label/card (suitable for pasting or taping on the mailing
envelop) with your name and exact mailing address clearly written.

3. Send the request to:

Robert Balonis
525 E. McCormick Ave.
State College, PA 16801-6616

FOREIGN REQUESTS. Please email me directly at NB3W at arrl.net with requests
for details. Donations for Canadian distribution will also be $25 (US) (or
more) and the package will be sent via air mail. Donations from
distribution other countries will be $30 US (or more) and the package will
be sent via Global Priority Mail envelope.

PS: I regret that I am unable to respond to those who I promised to send
availability information directly to when the Compendium was available.
Unfortunately, I have lost all email related information (I'd like to blame
the computer/software but in this case, it was a hasty click of the delete
button!)
