Jacob, saw your note (below) on the Swan list.

Not sure how old your Swan's are, but mine (350, 500/500C/700CX) all
have HIGH impedance mike inputs.  High in terms of 50k ohms or above.  A
600 ohm mike (without a preamp) does not develop enough voltage to drive
the mike preamp in the rig.  Later model solid state Swan/Atlas rigs are
probably an exception as are all new solid state rigs I know of.

However - any of the later model D104's with the preamp built into the
base (and adjustable output) will work fine with the vintage high
impedance input rigs or more modern rigs.  I've used these on many of my
vintage rigs as well as a FT-1000MP without problems.

The older D-104's do not have a built-in preamp.  They expect to drive a
load that is in the 200k ohm to 1M ohm range for good results.  These
would not work well on a newer solid state ring with low impedance mic
input (600 ohm or thereabouts) as the low and mid frequencies would be
severely restricted and possibly output voltage insufficient for the
rig.
