[Swan] Virus?

The real problem is software vendors that produce the lame
mail applications that run stuff behind your back. Don't
auto-open anything. Attachments are harmless until
decoded and run. If your e-mail program decodes and runs
anything without asking, you're asking for trouble.
I use a ascii-only e-mail client called mutt. I really
don't have to worry much about virus attachments.
Applications like pegasus mail (win) come out of the box
with fairly safe defaults. outhouse, err, outlook is
another story. I don't know about eudora. web-based
services seem safe...you at least know when you're
getting an attachment. Basically just don't run stuff
from untrusted sources. It's that simple.
