Hi Curt
Thanks for the recording ...It is the best I have heard. I hear it here in WNY with a pair of phased 40M verticals. I also tracked it down with a web sdr in Singapore.
It is also being heard by members of the IARU Intruder watch group in Europe. I have heard it refered to as Village radio in YB land.
The link to the new IARU report is on my blog posted in the past few days

I've been following a thread on the HF
Underground message board about the
radio oddity known as the "Indonesian
Chanters." I finally was able to
catch a transmission today via a
KiwiSDR located in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Very strange stuff!
Video recording here: https://youtu.be/ypyxzLlkxKE
Several people have suggested that this
is some kind of local game being
played by Indonesian villagers with
transceivers. It occurs almost nightly,
starting around 1400 UTC and lasting
for hours. The signal comes in best
using the Jakarta, Indonesia
KiwiSDR.
When I was sailing with the Merchant
Marine, I visited Indonesia several
times. There was a type of local liquor
there that was distilled from palm
toddy. After a few glasses, I sounded a
bit like this, myself, then
remembered nothing more. I'm not saying
that is what is happening here,
just kind of throwing the fact out
there.
Regards to all,
