Welcome to the group! I think this group is kind of defunct, or really slow
these days. This is the first posting I've seen here in ages.

I just moved across town and have no antennas up. I may string a wire up in
the attic temporarily or somewhere outside that I can reach. At least I'll
be able to hear something..

The list is still handy when stuff pops up and this downturn could be
temporary. With the current political situation worldwide I'd not be
surprised to see a major uptick in HF utility transmissions. I find it hard
to believe HF traffic has totally migrated to satellite or TCP/IP
delivery as HF is so easily accessible in 'the field' and end
user reception sites not nearly as easy to 'find' the way TCP/IP is.

Just my thoughts...

I still find the list to be useful as Jay said. I would like to see it
continue into the future, but I guess that is not my decision to make.

Thanks everyone, I have been a member of hfu for a while, as someone has
mentioned already with raised tension around the world HF seems to be
increasing in its usr and possibly not just by the good guy's.

I don't know how technical everyone is here... maybe a silly question to 
ask on a HF group - I could set up a Slack channel for discussions which 
might help.... or, if privacy isn't an issue, perhaps a shared hashtag 
on something like Twitter is all we need to keep each other updated.

I'm guessing the slow-down in reports is also due to the easing of tension
between the US and Cuba as well. Other problems are on the map.

At this location I've noticed an increase in HF spread spectrum
transmissions. Plus an interloper encrypted RTTY transmission daily on
3889khz.

So who knows what is in store...

An increase in HF would not be a great surprise.  The high-tech comm modes
are expensive and probably related to "Big Picture" issues.  "Tactical" RF
activity is well suited for "small stuff."  As Cuba tries to engage the US,
I would expect them to embed agents in medium level political/economic
realms in order to to to gain advantages way below any definable "threat."
HF makes a nice alternative to uber-tech...low cost and most high level
intel agencies are probably no long spending much to monitor.

Just the opinion of an old foreign Area Officer/MI guy.

Hi. Glad to hear there is some new  activity on this site. I'm an older
SWL Listener from the 60's, back when RHC and Radio Moscow were
very active, militant and vocally Anti-Yanqui.

Will try to be more active, haven't rigged up my dipole, yet; I live in Northern Arizona and have a GrundigS4500DLX General Coverage Receiver.

I used to listen to the numbers stations.
