On my radio, for some reason, I received the 0600 UT transmission for 01/03/ 2014 at a frequency close to 11435 kHz (or so my analogue dial says) with a very weak signal, which began to fade out by 0615 UTC. I was able to retune my portable radio by 0623 just at the end of the first cycle. HM01's second segment ran from 0627 - 0651. I can confirm the numbers recorded in your initial post. I also listened to part of the next broadcast (9330 kHz, which began at 0658 UT, with a stronger signal -- but in order to receive it best, I had to point my attached antenna 45 - 90 degrees AWAY from Cuba). After a few minutes, I went to sleep (it's past 2 AM on the East Coast of the USA, so I'm due some sleep).

BTW, the 5855 broadcast seemed unusual in several ways:
1) The number sequence has NOT CHANGED since December 31,2013. From prior experience, I've come to expect the numbers to change every 24 hours or so (even if to merely increase the terminal digit by one).
2) The tone(s) right after the number is announced seem to be different. Besides a somewhat high pitched fundamental tone, there have been bursts of a lower pitched tone as the higher tone continues. Either I've just not noticed it in the past, or this is new. Some of the "data burst tones" seem a bit different as well. Could the Cubans be using these differences in tone, etc. to encode their 'spy messages' (as opposed to the "one time pad" idea which eventually got Ava Mendes in trouble with the US government)?

The question remains: Will the number groups change? If so, when?

Sincerely,

Shawn From Flushing NY
