Hello to all members, I have just registered to this list. Mostly I've been
reading the various previous postings, but maybe I will occasionally have
something to contribute. Hopefully I won't do anything wrong by asking
questions that are answered elsewhere.

OK, a quick question that I'm sure someone can answer. Last night I picked
up some CW on 3217 KHz at 0015 UTC. My location is Aberdeen, Scotland. I
recorded the CW and noted down the opening part, but I was too tired to copy
all of it so I will listen to my recording again later on.

The opening part of the transmission was:

S8FZ S8FZ S8FZ DE CGNI CGNI QTC

...I don't know who S8FZ or CGNI are. Does anybody know? It was quite slow
morse, so I thought I may have stumbled upon some kind of military training
session in progress.
