The big one on this coast was, "This is a test transmission for circuit 
adjustment purposes from the New Zealand [whatever]. This message has come 
to you from the control center in Wellington."  I was a very precocious kid 
and imagined all kinds of exotic and perhaps conspiratorial purposes for 
such a transmission.
