Here's an interesting posting about V2 from the Spy Numbers general
chat message forum at Black Cat Systems:
"One day about a year or two ago I was hunting down number stations.
I found a carrier I thought sounded familiar just before the hour. I
waited for the top of the hour and sure enough..... "attencion...
attencion.... uno dos tres ........." It was a good strong signal. I
decided to listen to it so I just left it on in the background for
noise basically. I wish I had the recorder running. After about 5
minutes the audio abruptly stopped but the carrier was still there
strong. About 10 or 20 seconds later I heard what sounded to me to be
a US telephone switch make the familiar announcement "If you would
like to make a call please hang up and try again. If you need help,
hang up and call the operator. BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP......"
ETC. It sounds to me like the Spanish number station was definatly
originating from this country via a telephone autopatch. The
connection to the transmitter site must have beed lost during the
transmission and the transmitter just kept transmitting through the
off the hook type message from the phone company..... Did anyone else
happen to hear this or similar occurances? "
