Hi List:

It's great to see all the logs coming into the list of late. I would
like to make a suggestion though. When entering your logs into the "Spooks
Database", you should strive to properly identify the numbers station copied
with the proper Enigma designation. I have noticed many M8 ID's (M8 format
has not been used since 1996. Currently M8a and M8c are being used. Also,
many V2 designations are being logged when some are actually V2a and V2c
also V2 is in use currently too. Just using M8 or V2 is too general, and
doesn't really tell much about the station you copied.
The reason I bring this up, is that if we are to use the database as a
research tool in finding new skeds, or developing an understanding of the
particular net we are interested in, it is difficult to do a sort of the
database when the incorrect ID is on it.
If you are not sure of the ID, you should print out a copy of the Enigma
2000 Control List or the Enigma 2000 Morse Profile List which are located at
Ary's site:
http://home.luna.nl/~ary/
Simon Mason also has great info on the numbers stations at:
http://www.simonmason.karoo.net/page30.html
It is also desirable to include callups, message preamble and other
notes of interest in the comments field of the database.
I hope this message is taken constructively. All of your logs are
appreciated.
If anyone has any questions about ID's, all he/she has to do is ask on
the list and someone will have the answer.
I used M8 and V2 as examples, but all the other numbers stations have
variations, and we should try to properly ID the variation we heard.

    73's and Happy Hunting!
    Mark
