Bert, Congrats! My first spy station was V2a (as I live in FL, an easy catch
here) - on old analog radio at the time - think the thing was meant to be
usb transmission but came thru garbled but readable - inexperienced at the
time, I thought it was a spanish weather "beacon" for Cuban fishermen or
something, calling out numerical coordinates of some kind... ;)
The "wow" feeling of that first catch is pretty cool huh? Congrats!

By almost total chance (dialing around) I have finally received my first spy
station!
I cross-referenced with the info on SpyNumbers.com, and it appears to be the
Cuban station, Enigma ID M8. However, there are some differences. It was
done in voice, not morse. Language was an automated-sounding Spanish voice
(all numbers identical sounding). And it used an M8 frequency of 6797 kHz
but at a time of 2200z.
Any ideas? Is this a voice-version of M8 or something else?
BTW, I tuned around for the "Poacher" at the sked given, but couldn't hear a
peep. I'm running a dipole cut for 40m up about 25 ft, and not sure if band
conditions to Cyprus are great right now, but if they were, I'd think I
would have heard something (at least a weak carrier).
Bert
