Hey Ron, how did you get interested? Unlike you I'm not a long-time DXer but
when I first got into shortwave, I would fool around on the dial some nights
and pick up these "weird numbers"...then I read a very interesting column in
The Straight Dope (FYI it's the really funny trivia column) on numbers
stations and here I am! I don't get a chance to DX for numbers too often
though...too much work and other stuff (e.g. a rambunctious four-year-old)!
cryptozoology?? Very cool! Any animals in particular? If you're going to
respond send it to my email address, the list is generally for talking about
spy numbers and not general things. 73s, Sue

I just subscribed to this list tonight. I'm a long time DXer, SWL and
recently got my Ham technician ticket. I'm looking forward to some insights
in this intriguing study.

I'm also interested in astronomy, UFOs and Cryptozoology.

Hi Bert and friends, I take this moment to talk a
little bit about myself. (Sorry, but I feel a little
phallocentric tonight. ;) ) I also recently joined the
list too and I live near Montreal. I am still quite a
newbie in SW world, but I am a long time DXer and I
even took broadcasting courses during my degree. I
also had a show on FM community. It must be a year and
half since I am exploring SW and HAM. I hope to kick
my ass enough to find some time for studying and
getting my ham operator certificate someday soon.
Numbers stations mystify me too and what you have
typed to Bert is useful to improve my knowledge too.

Yesterday (monday the 15), I was monitoring and
working on the computer at the same time. I heard a
tone on 12220 KHz or 9090 KHZ by 2200 UTC. When I
heard that, I rushed on my portable radio and I didn't
heard anything else. I am not sure, if I came from a
nearby christian station or it was M13 or E5. I
searched spynumbers.com and it might be M13. Anyone
have a clue or heard it yesterday?

Jeff
