Good morning...
clean-up-checking is a good idea, i also found some good stuff at such
events. There is a big ham radio event in south germany this weekend, but i
cant go there (not enough money after my short holidays at Amsterdam, and i
got a little summer flu).
Your Radio has just AM reception i guess. CHeck the following points to
confirm:
Does it has a "BFO" or "SSB" or "USB/LSB" switch ?
Do you hear normal broadcasts good and clear and without beeping tone ?
Do u hear Morse or data stations just as some kind of clicking ?
Do u hear some transmission (especially ham radio) just as distorted voice?
If thats the case, you need SSB reception to hear the numbers.
Radio with SSB is more expensive...
or you ask a ham friend for a external BFO.
Thats just a 455 kHz filter (price <1$) and any kind of transistor (you dont
need special rf transistor, 20 cent type), pc board and about 6 resistors.
When switching that on, you can hear the radio teletype and SSB stuff !
I have to go now...
