It helps to look at the databases (such as spynumbers, cvni, enigma2000
predictions) to get an idea of the habits of a given station. This will
give you an idea when to look for a given station, for example, does it
start on the hour, half hour, etc.?, how long does it run? What hours of
the day does it run?

Then the fun begins, one can either try to confirm known frequencies by
tuning to "what might be on now" from a prediction schedule, or one can try
to spin the dial and find new frequencies. Both are fun challenges because
the stations are often less than predictable :)
