I know it is dangerous to post such a "religious" question, but I could use
some advice in selecting a receiver and associated software for recording
and logging numbers to a Windows PC.
My DX-440 doesn't cut it any longer so I am looking for the following
functionality (if such a creature exists):
- Scanning of stored frequencies -- and of course the more channels the
better. I don't want to be stuck scanning an entire range.
- If I am going to have a gazillion channels it would be convenient if I
could program it from a PC.
- Automatic recording and logging to a PC is easy, but is there anything
available that includes the frequency in the log?
- Automatic decoding of popular protocols like CW or RTTY would be nice.
The Icom PCR1000
(http://www.icomamerica.com/receivers/pc/icpcr1000main.html) appears to be
a cost effective solution. Does anyone have a better idea?
Thanks for the help.
