Hi all,

I didn't hear M8a on its Sun 0200z sked, on 5758.0, but instead
heard a strange signal similar to that hrd after the V2a 0400z
sked Sat 01112003, on 5884 kc.

On 01 11 2003:
After the 0400z sked ended (there was a VOX problem where
the Tx would sometimes not key up "when the computer spoke")
there was possibly a test being conducted with someone
whistling into a microphone in short "bursts".

Getting back to the Sun 0200z sked, the same signal is now
on 5762.43, with the same type of "whistling into a mic".
The mode appeared to be SSB, not AM though. Signal strength
is S-7 to S-9.
This time the whistling was some crude CW.
The signal was on from 0206 to 0235z and it took a bit of
time for me to recognize the CW, due to it being so slow
but here is what I copied.
(START COPY)

____ ON= TIE DE TWAR (K)OE DATNA MMM MNIA _MIA
T(WO)ED _ _ _ RTDMM IMT(E)U MDIMI = (END COPY)
The signal went silent at 0235z

While I'm writing this the signal is on again at 0300z to
0305z, same freq with short intermittent bursts and long
pauses between.

I may be way off the mark and it may have nothing to do
with M8a (or V2a) but I found it interesting that it has
appeared at 2 different sked times on an M8a or V2a freq.

When you have finished laughing at this post, you can
hit the DEL key and forget I said anything.....

Good Hunting,
John (maybe I shouldn't put my name on this)
