> Slot Machine is XSL

Does anyone have the slightest idea what the Slot Machines are for?

It's been something like 3 years.

It's up to 13 or 14 frequencies, all blatting away in perfect, and I mean
perfect, sync.

It really does sound like a couple of the slot machines used in Nevada to
separate people from money. These make little beeping noises while the
wheels spin.

What we do know:

Probably Chinese.

Very sophisticated data system, completely unique, but not as sophisticated
in transmission - distorted.

The hiss, when the "tune" stops, is probably the content. Everything else
is probably for crypto sync.

Not all frequencies 24/7, though the ones heard in the US are. Global
frequencies often occur in pairs.

Not all frequencies global coverage.

Sites are close enough together that propagation delays aren't audible to
the ear when switching frequencies on the fly (at least not in the US).

What we don't know:

Users, traffic (if any), or purpose. How do users, if any, interact with
the stations? Frequencies? Or is it a broadcast?

How they achieve tight sync at multiple sites. GPS? Atomic clocks?

What the 11-Hz kerchunking is. Phase reversals a la PSK31?
