Peine de mort contre un militaire US

Le gouvernement am�ricain a requis la peine de mort contre un militaire
sp�cialiste militaire du
renseignement spatial accus� d�espionnage, notamment en faveur de
l�Irak.

M.Regan, qui avait travaill� jusqu�� son arrestation en ao�t 2001 au
NRO,le Bureau national de
reconnaissance � l�agence militaire secr�te qui g�re les satellites
espions des Etats-Unis � a propos�
ses services � l�Irak,� la Lybie et � un troisi�me pays dont le nom n�a
pas �t� r�v�l�.

C �est la premi�re fois depuis le proc�s des �poux Rosenberg, condamn�s
� mort en 1953 pour
avoir livr� des documents atomiques secrets aux Sovi�tiques, que le
gouvernement am�ricain
requiert la peine capitale dans une affaire d�espionnage.

�Brian Regan n�est pas coop�ratif �, a expliqu� un responsable
judiciaire, pour justifier la s�v�rit� de la peine requise par le
Minist�re public � l �encontre de Brian Patrick Regan, �g� de 39 ans.

Pour d�autres responsables,le choix de l�Irak,qui fait partie de �l�axe
du mal � des pays cherchant � se procurer des armes de destruction
massive selon l�expression du pr�sident am�ricain George W.Bush,a pes�

Death penalty against a US military

The American government required the death penalty against a U.S.
military, specialist in space intelligence, sued for espionage,
noticeably in favour of Iraq.

M.Regan, which worked until his arrest in August 2001 with the NRO, --
the secret military agency which manages the U.S. spy satellites --
offered
his services to Iraq, Lybia and a third country the name of which
remained undisclosed. 

It is the first time since the lawsuit of the Rosenberg couple,
condemned to death in 1953
for having delivered atomic secrets documents to the Soviets, that the
American government
requires the capital punishment in a case of espionage. 

"Brian Regan is not co-operative", explained a judicial official, to
justify the severity of the sentence required by the public Ministry
against Brian Patrick Regan, 39 year old. For some other officials, the
choice of Iraq, which belongs to "the evil axis" of countries seeking
weapons of massive destruction, following the terms used by American
President George W.Bush, weighed in balance.(AFP).
