[SOC] How and why?

Learned of the SOC during a cw qso with a guy in Oregon on 3579.5 khz.
At the time, band conditions were far better than they are today hr in
Alaska but my Heathkit HW-9, wandering longwire, kludge built antenna
tuner ( all tuner components were from discarded junk ). It gets the job
done.
 After hearing about the SOC, figured why not. Continuing to serve the
CBLA along the northern front.
