Actually- there is a little bendiness (that's a word).  As the air gets
thinner at altitude, radio waves move a little faster- a 'wavefront' that
tilts a little to follow the earth's curvature.

....and with that appalling breach of etiquette, I may have to be drummed
out of the SOC.
