Think it's just the odd ego perverts who out for glory. Out for their 15 minute allocation of fame.Yes, some actors use this as a platform for other purposes. Often not successfully.

Philosophically the world is full of 'clubs'. We are all classified, or classify ourselves in some way or other and may meet criteria for certain box ticking categories. However, at the end of the day we are all (as far as I know!) human beings.
Similar idea applies to amateur radio. In this case, whatever mode or specific interest, its our own personal choice. We are all in one big club, more so now than before. I reckon we should all be more concerned with not allowing amateur radio to become obsolete in the future.

Many clubs have desires for the members to be included. Often,
it involves the personality of possible candidates. I would imagine,
if one spoke ill of others, it may well be a turn off.

I often laugh people who have become very good in one skill and
are recognized for such, they then believe they, what, have great
minds in all areas and/or subjects. Some good actors come to mind.
