[SOC] Effects at sub polar areas

Hey Dave!
I just want to thank you for your kit for QRP Small Wonder 40 meters.  I
built one about 20 years ago.  Still works fine.  I did need to replace the
finals at one point.  But otherwise, no problems.
I put it in a plastic case with AA battery holders, and a on/off switch and
LED power indicator.
I calculated that the batteries would last 99 hours under normal use (RX
and TX).
I took it to a park here in Maryland and worked a station in South
Carolina.
