Duck-billed Platypus - absolutely! 

My wife and I have a spoken "code word" between us when we want to
communicate to the other that we think something is weird, but don't
actually want to use the word....."unique."

I actually think that the Platypus is a much better mascot for the SOC.
It has a mammal body, duck bill and web feet. A most unusual and strange
beast, much like our membership: unique.
