improved, and best contest EVER. '''the CHIRP QSO CONTEST.""

  Say, now there is one for the books. A 12 hour period of old rigs
hammering away with old keys from whatever time, pounding out the sounds of
communication from a bygone era when half the old rigs were not a "9" in the
Tone indicator of RST. And when every signal out of the USSR sounded so
chirpy you thought your rig was bad because you got a 9 report.

  AND THE WINNER: Would be the one who got the most OO reports. ( Of which I
have a couple for chirping myself. Thanks to the Johnson Vik II and the
sweetheart DX-40, which I dearly love with its VF1 enhancer.)  So much fun
nobody should stop using them. If the AM gang can still use their stuff
wiping out 20 khz of useable frequency with hetrodynes sounding like so many
fat mosquotoes and driving us swat crazy, I see no reason why we old
brasspounders can't send out a canary call on occasion.

  And OO notices are great in a framed assembly next to the Rag Chewers club
certificate, proving we honor the property of "talking to each other." (
Which doesn't seem to be in vogue much these days. )
