[SOC] ARRL publication no where to be found !

This is a great question. What to do when the band is "dead"?

I like to operate the NAQCC Sprints. As many stations as you can work in a
span of two hours. It is presented as "not a contest" but a friendly way
for stations to make contacts. And so called "dead bands" come alive.

Suggestion: make any excuse and hold an "event". Hams like "events" for
instance - contests, QSO parties, and so on. That is primarily because it
is no fun not making contacts. So hold an event or even a Net.

Suggestion: check in to a net. You can find the nets organized by various
clubs and such, like traffic nets, and so on.

Suggetion: If you make a contact, and have a "chat" (I don't particularly
like the term "rag-chew") then every few minutes invite anyone listening to
"check-in" (QNI) to your QSO and include the other station in the chat.
You never know if the stations in a chat would want a break in station. nor
if they would want a tail-ender to call after their chat is over. I would
rather be invited to the QSO.
