[SOC] Ya'll going to Dayton ? ?/ OH REALLY!

Wore cap at Dayton this year that had a large pin sign on it that I got at Dayton twenty or so years ago.  It goes "No Code No Code Rah Rah Rah Three Dits Four Dits Two Dits Dah."  Picked up a Bunnell Western Union 2A Legless Hand Key in the flea market.  Gonna use it on the air in place of the J-37 I now use.  Genus "Straight Key" consists of two Species, "Hand Key" and "Semi Automatic (Bug) Key."

Hey, those social'ite elitiests don't give one flop for a SOC. They don't
even know who they are. They're afraid to admit SOC's are the better
operators and handle a straight key like Wyat Earp did a six gun. They're so
busy rubbing elbows with the DX'ers top billboards and digital cw reader
boys that they ain't got a clue what a "real key" looks like, most of them
anyway, unless they have one in a show case in their living room. Naw, its
all hawmp and pawmp, look at me, I did this, and mercy on the scab kids with
a single cheap rig, an old key and wire in the top of fir trees or Lilac
bushes, baww hoop'T'poop.
Gotta live in the here and now where true radio supports the hobby. Those
who love talking and sharing fish stores and swapping lies about finding
mushrooms over the next hill etc. That's what radio is all about. I'll stick
with SOC and the creative signatures of the metal hitting metal from two
points of an old but good key. Besides, its fun.
Frank, SOC 1126, -- Bravo guys, lets here it for the SOC's, three cheers
and a hooo'rah. Three dits four dits two dits dah, radiomen radiomen
rah-rah-rah.

They did admit the SOC YLs in cutoff shorts and halter tops, they went to
the bar where free happy hour was given to the best dressed CW operators.

One SOC OM realized he had better eyesight than he realized as he named his
dog "Nip & Tuck", and bought him a gin fizz.
