Honorable SOC members,

I don't check the SOC web site very often. I had my fill of frustration
the first time I visited there and never could find the button. I had to
be manually added to the membership roster by one of the club officers.
So now, years later, I muster up enough courage to check the web site
again. And it's a good thing I checked. The web site appears to have
been hacked! The web site appears mostly as it appeared years ago but
there was a line added smack dab in the middle of the page with a RED
font! It says:

--> Not associated with the First Class CW Operators Club nor meant in
any way to defame FOC <--

Even Second Class Operators know that the SOC is not the FOC. We're not
that dumb!

And as far as not defaming FOC, was this possibly official SOC club
position ever submitted to a vote? Yes, I might vote to approve such a
statement on the SOC web page but only if the FOC posts a similar
statement on their web site saying :

--> Not associated with the Second Class Operators Club nor meant in any
way to defame SOC <--

I checked. You would think that in consideration of fairness, that the
statement would be there already. Instead, for all to see on the bottom
of their page is this disclaimer:

"No part of this website may be reproduced or used externally without
the express consent of FOC."

So why doesn't SOC have this nasty disclaimer on its web site? I'll
tell you why. We're nice guys (and gals). All we have on the bottom of
our main page is this:

"This WEB Site has received the prestigious Barney Award"

Barney Awards are nicer than unfriendly legal disclaimers.
